India - A Light Within Mesmerizing Indian dance is back on the KST stage! Srishti Dances of India returns to Pittsburgh for ONE NIGHT ONLY.

Celebrated Odissi choreographer and dancer Sreyashi Dey returns to Pittsburgh with her company, Srishti Dances of India, to open the the Kelly Strayhorn season and the KSTmoves series. This exciting premiere collaboration spotlights traditional Indian dance, stunning photography by renowned photographer Charlee Brodsky and deeply spiritual poetry by acclaimed poet Zilka Joseph.
Sreyashi Dey performs a new suite of dynamic Odissi dance with her talented twin daughters, Ishika and Kritika Rajan, who have emerged as noted dancers of the new generation, and company member Debnita Talapatra.
The beauty and spirituality of this dance style, originally performed as a worship ritual in the temples of Orissa, is also evoked through a series of projected photographs by Charlee. Titled “The Dance of Hands,” it captures the expressive range of hand mudras in the ancient art of Odissi dance. Zilka’s poetry responds to and is interwoven with the dance and the photography, but is a work of art in itself - powerful words that express our universal spiritual core.

This unique collaboration of performing and visual arts with writing creates a visually rich and layered work - meditative reflections of enduring beauty as the three artists create their art together to touch the light within.
