A busload of Pittsburghers took to Philadelphia last weekend on Mumia Abu-Jamal's 50th birthday.

Joining others around the world in France, Germany, Oregon, San Francisco, and more, nearly 1,000 supporters of Black political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal took to the streets of Philadelphia to demand justice.
The march began with a rally at Malcolm X Park at 52nd and Pine. Then marchers wound through the mostly Black neighborhood as they commenced at 49th and Kingsessing. Along the way, numerous residents came out of their homes to cheer the crowd on and express support.
Among the numerous supporters present that day were Fred Hampton Jr. (son of slain Chicago BPP chairman Fred Hampton), a delagation from France, Ramona Africa, and many more. Members of The Uncompromising Western Pennsylvania Committee to Free Mumia ABU Jamal organized a bus to bring some of Mumia's supporters from the region to the event.
Along with marking Mumia's 50th birthday, Saturday also marked the release of Mumia's newest book "We Want Freedom: A Life in the Black Panther Party."
