The Shorin Karate Dojo will perform a japanese sword and Shoha Shorin Ryu Karate demonstration at the Northland Public Library (Cumberland Road, North Hills) on Monday, February 28, 2005, at 7pm. This performance will include a question and answer period, and audience participation if space permits.

Our dojo celebrates our 30th anniversary this year, and we are happy and proud to share what we have learned with the rest of the community. The school's founder, John Hamilton Sensei, is an internationally renown instructor and the founder of Sho-Ha Shorin Ryu Karate, a style which can be practiced well into advanced years and which uses natural body mechanics to achieve the technique's goals efficiently and gracefully. The japanese sword style featured is Nitto Tenshin Ryu Kenjutsu, a style originated by Musashi, a 15th century sword master and author of "The Book of Five Rings".

Space permitting, the audience will be invited to learn simple stretches useful especially to heavy computer-users. Check with the library for the scheduling of free lunch-time karate classes, done for fitness and in regular business attire.
