What is Captain Blasto?

In the summer of 2003, filmmakers Chris Preksta, Aaron Kleiber, and Ashley Urbaniak, gathered the talents of over 70 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania actors and crew members to produce a unique, creative, and professional feature length film titled, Captain Blasto.

Written and directed by Preksta, Captain Blasto follows the story of Colin Carter, a high school outcast, who decides to break free from his lonely life and become what he's always wanted to be: a super-hero. Sometimes each day is just another boring copy of the previous one. Sometimes you feel trapped by the monotony of school, work, family. Sometimes you've got to do something about it. He'll play the hero of his childhood, Captain Blasto, and foil all the town robberies. Staged robberies of course. But what happens when these bogus burglaries become real?

Not only does Captain Blasto re-define the comic book movie genre with it's unique visual style and comic panel editing, but with a fundraised budget of only $7,000, it is a stunning example of the "digital-do-it-yourself" movie with a level of creativity, emotion, and professionalism unmatched by most independent features.

Come have fun, support local filmmakers, and follow our cast of characters as they search for adventure and a break from the boring lifelessness of living.
