Pittsburgh, PA (November 2, 2005) – On March 16, 2003, U.S. peace activist Rachel Corrie stood, non-violently, between an Israeli Defense Force Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer
and a Palestinian home threatened with demolition. The bulldozer crushed her to death.
Rachel's story has deeply affected activists of many struggles throughout the world. Palestinian director Yahya Barakat's powerful documentary goes beyond the politics of the occupation to show the brutal realities of the Palestinian situation and what motivates members of the international peace movement, such as Rachel, to go to Palestine.
The film showing and discussion will take place at 7:30 pm in 120 David Lawrence Hall, on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Craig and Cindy Corrie reside in Olympia, Washington, where they are active in the peace and justice community.
