Die-in -- Comrades Hold the Line
by frogrods Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003 at 4:36 PM

These observers lend their support to the people remaining in the center of Fifth Avenue in front of the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute, a major route through Oakland and the city. Traffic on the road remained backed up for hours despite the Superbowl weekend and light traffic due to heavy snowfalls.

Three remaining...

At the two-hour mark, three remain in the cold streets. At least 80 protestors participated in the non-permitted die-in.

KDKA just reported 11:20pm J26, that the die-in lasted "25 minutes before it died out." WHAT?!?

Cheers to the die-inners who were waiting for us when the breakaway march returned. It was good to see people still out there when we were coming back up 5th ave.

Way to go, KDKA! oops! The majority of the participants in the die-in actually did disperse after probably a half-hour, but the last three participants were in the street for a full two hours. I know. I was there. That's the purpose of the IMC, eh?

What's more...

I would also estimate that there were about 15 people who were out there for about an hour. Some of them went into the church, warmed-up a bit, and went back out to give support to those still on the ground!

kdka also reported last nite (J26) around 11:20pm that most of the protestors "didnt know what they were protesting against" (might not be the exact quote, but basically they were comparing us to the blind patriotists)...wtf?? anyone else hear this?

DIE-IN/ 25 MINUTES, WHAT?!!
by Jonas Moffat Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 at 2:30 PM

The fact that KDKA stated that the Die-In lasted 25 minutes is ridiculous. I was one of the three remaining. I wasn't looking to glorify the die-in or anything of that matter, I was merely proving to myself, and to whomever may have been listening or watching, that a wee 2.5 hours of lying on the cold streets of Oakland in late January is not much in comparison to lying on a warm ground in Iraq covered in your own , and the blood of others, helpless to the air strikes and raids which Iraqis will, and do presently, encounter. The fact that our mass media, KDKA and the like, downplay our efforts, striking 2 hours from our determination there in the freezing streets, proves even more our point of these incompetent media stations. Thanks!

We Shall Overcome

I'm writing this message all of my peace-loving friends, especially Jonas, Laura and Brandyn. I just watched the State of the Union address and I feel like a 500 pound weight just dropped on me. It makes me sad to see the president arrogantly exclaim that he wants to spread his "love" throughout the world. But, we have to overcome his irrational ways by continuing to voice our opinions. This is a challenge to eveyrone out there who feels the need to spread peace. Let's get together and protest against this imperialistic president.

I stayed clear of that

Yeah, I decided to stay clear of the State of the Union Address, and from what it seems I'm glad I missed it. But just cause I didn't watch it doesn't mean it's not happening. It makes me feel sick that a warlord like King George II is at the top and to quote Hami quoting Bush "that he wants to spread his "love" throughout the world". We have to get together and find out more ways to have our voices be heard!

Oh, and to Hami and Jonas, we got in the Monday PPG. It sucked that Laura couldn't stay down with us.

Forwarded to appropriate state DOT's
by Highway Patrol Sunday, Apr. 13, 2003 at 3:08 PM

Your threats of vehicular homicide have been forwarded to the appropriate authorities. Hopefully there'll one less toothless speed freak on the road. I must admit I agree with you on NAFTA and "Six Days on the Road " is a great song, other than that you should not be allowed to drive and I'll do what ever I can to stop you.
