250 rallied at the Wiliam Pitt Union today to protest the threat of war with Iraq. An unpermitted march followed that winded through Oakland, leaving cops confused and ultimately ending with a confrontation in front of St Paul's Cathedral at Fifth and Craig. The police eventually dispersed, and most of the protest did as well. Some protestors continued on to the stadium where a University of Pittsburgh basketball games was in progress. No arrests havebeen reported.
Area residents are increasingly considering the necessity of non-violent civil disobedience as a counter to the war machine.

The rally attracted big numbers despite the cold weather. Molly Rush, one of the original Plowshares 8 who was among the speakers today, said that the protests were in a "race against time" as Bush was looking at avoiding hot desert weather in Iraq and protestors in Pittsburgh at least were looking forward to Spring and more comfortable temperatures.

This was a common theme as city council considers a resolution against the War on Iraq. Petitions circulated the audience for support of the anti-war resolution. It will be presented this Tuesday at the City-County building. A rally is planned for 9:30 AM.

Some buses were held up for a few minutes as the march headed to the Pitt basketball game. The signs saying "I need a ticket" were briefly outnumbered by signs in opposition to the war.

Much of the march dispersed at the Cathedral, but about 100 continued on to the Software Engineering Institute and took refuge at the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral. Confrontation seemed imminent.

On my way to the Pitt basketball game I came across a bunch of wanna be hippies thinking what they were doing will make a difference...Now you know and I know that all your doing is wasting time, nobody in the real world cares what you do or say...And when we blast Iraq into never-never land(hopefully killing them all) I hope the gas prices go down because my SUV only gets 12 mpg...lol...but I can afford it now so no worry here...
Good luck this weekend wasting your time again and not making a shread of difference..smoke dope, go to jail and continue down that road of being a burden to society when you get older....oh and BTW...if you dont like it..them LEAVE!!!...its that simple....havent you figured it out yet? Go to Iraq...then tell us how you like it...I bet you could get photos of idiots being beat there!...

Wow, that is just about the most intelligent thing i've heard. It's that same "love it, or leave it" attitude that allows governments to oppress people like you and I. Did you even look at us? Wanna be hippies, hahahah, these are people my age, your age, my parents age, and my granparents age, so before you try to shut us down, get your facts straight. I hope that while you're off with the rest of America wasting gasoline so you can ride in SUV "style", that you find time to go fuck yourself. Feel free to email me if you think your convictions are strong enough to stand in opposition to mine.

Your Gay (wrong) ---> You're Gay (correct)
You're is a contraction of You are...
...as in: "You are in need of some manners."
...versus: "Your comments are not appreciated.'
I don't usually give grammar lessons (as I feel languages do and should evolve), but I always make the exception for ignorant right-wingers such as you.

I can't agree more with the prior comment....even a fish eye lens can't hide the meager pathetic skeletons these vegetarian malcontents posess as they scuffle through life...deluded by causes and ideas that are subsidized by enemies of everything this country was so beautifully designed to allow. The founders of this country were filled with pure genius when they mandated that every foolish idiot should be allowed to behave thusly in character

How can you force a Dog to mach in that protest. That poor dog may not want to march in your wrongheaded melee (dogs being very sensible creatures).. Besides, most dogs support the PResident and vote republican.
