The legal meeting for arrestees has been changed to MONDAY EVENING at 6:30 at PITT LAW SCHOOL.
The meeting for those who were arrested on M20 is going to be Monday evening (March 24) at 6:30 pm at the Pitt Law School. Mike Healy, the lawyer taking the cases for free, will give an overview of the process and the charges, then will do one-on-one interviews with arrestees. All arestees are urged to come.

Hi,
I have class on Monday from 6-8:30 PM and was one of the 120+ arrestees. Is there any way I could show up later, earlier, or at another time without missing class?
I'm 18 years old, a Freshmen, and unsure of how to tackle this thing by myself. I've already written a detailed hour by hour account for what happened to my memory. Please let me know if you can help me.

I think the people at Pitt want to take care of our legal cases entirely for us. Probably, we would want to look into having them represent us seeing as they would be more dedicated to taking on our case as opposed to the public defender who is just doing it because it is his job.
thoughts?
also. an alternate meeting time would be so very much appreciated. i'm free all day monday til 5:30, tuesday nights, and wednesday during the day unitl 9 PM. my court summons is for Friday at 1:00 PM
Thank you so much.
About the public defender
by John

Charles Van Keuran is a public defender, who went down to the jail on Friday on behalf of those arrested, and worked far over and above what was required of him. I have known him for years, and he believes in what the arrested were doing. He has worked for the ACLU in the past, and he used to be a punk rocker in his past. If the public defender is him (which I don't know whether or not it will be), you'll be in good hands. I hired him for a matter before he was a public defender, and was pleased with his accessability, integrity, and dedication.
Not that Mike Healy won't do the best he can, but Chuck's no slouch, and I would not worry if I was placed in his hands.

Yeah, Chuck made a super good impression on me as well ... I'd trust him and I never trust P.D.'s. I'm going with Mike Healey and those legal folks, though, because they've been handling a lot of this stuff lately.
