action taken against war in lawrence kansas

two long term camps have sprung up in Lawrence Kansas. The "Lawrence Free State" is a city park where activists have built a tent city. Around 70 people were there for the founding of the free state and 25 tents have been set up.

Elsewhere in lawrennce- a tree sit has also become a long term encampment both against the war and destruction of our eco system- which the campers have pointed out are the same issue.

The tree which is the oldest tree in lawrence had its branches chopped down by the owner of the lot where the camp is now located.

He planned on turning it into a lot for condos- the tree though not totally dead at this point is in bad shape- the campers however are deamnding that even if the tree dies-that the lot be turned into a memorial park for the tree instaed of shitty housing for yuppies...

they have also taken the initiative to plant a tree and someone has taken a piece of the old tree in hopes of planting it for a new tree
