On 27 March, US armed forces were reported to have fired missiles with cluster bomblets near Najaf, while on 26 March it was reported that UK Harrier jets had dropped cluster bombs on Iraqi troops. Allegations have also been made that cluster bombs have been dropped on the city of Basra and may be responsible for civilian deaths and injuries
Amnesty International today condemned the British Government for using cluster bombs in Iraq.
Responding to an admission from Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon that these weapons had been used in Iraq, Amnesty International said: "We had asked the US and UK
governments to confirm that they would not use such indiscriminate weapons because of the threat they pose to civilians. Now we understand why they were silent."
"In the face of the glaring evidence of how these weapons affect civilians, we reiterate our call on both governments to undertake not to use them again for
the sake of the civilians of Iraq."
"They must also explain where and why the weapons were used."

US uses cluster bombs to spread death and destruction in Iraq

Yeah man I am truly disappointed with the main media as they do not show these cluster bombs been dropped in civilian areas. I read the WSWS article which starts as:
<*
Weapons of mass destruction have truly been unleashed in Iraq: new-generation cluster munitions are being used by US and British forces to massacre and terrorise the Iraqi population. Not a single Iraqi bio-chemical weapon has been witnessed, but the liberators have already resorted to weapons notorious for their vast and indiscriminate destruction of human life.
*>
in the website:
http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/apr2003/clus-a05.shtml
And:
http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/apr2003/side-a05.shtml
I am a bit scared, as to what is going on, as these guys are blatantly dropping these weapons of mass destruction and have done so in the past without impunity, and they must be sure that they are safe in the future from accusations at the Courts of Human rights. We have to be damn courageous and persistent in the future to get these bastards one by one "Bushy 'n Blah" included.
Our Cluster Bombs Defuze Automatically

the anti American propagandists will have you believe that the US bombing of Iraqi Baath party and Army targets is indiscriminate. Part of the effort is to lump UsA mines and bombs in with the old Soviet style munitions that are hazardous after the battle is over.
The US uses mines to protect troops in bivouac or in fighting formations where they sit and wait. When ordered to move out, any mines that are not exploded by attempts at infiltration are gathered up and taken to the next area. They do not leave unexploded mines behind. If they have to retreat from the area in a hurry they detonate the mines before leaving as part of the retreat.
The cluster bombs the US uses are designed to disarm themselves after a classified time period, thought to be less than one hour. Nothing short of a blasting cap can detonate the explosives in the bomblet after the fuze is automatically disarmed. A welding torch could open the munition, but blasting caps and TIG welders are not ordinarily thought of to be day care center or playground equipment. Maybe they should be, but they are not.
You can look up the munitions and weapons systems used by the usa on the internet, or you can rant about them in ignorance.

" Kennedy and Khruschev, Adenauer and de Gaulle, MAcmillan and Gaitskell are all pursuing a common aim: the ending of human rights. You, your families, your friends and your countries are to be exterminated by the common decision of a few brutal but powerful men. To please these men, all private affections, all the public hopes, all that has been achieved in art and knowledge and thought, and all tha might be achieved thereafter is to be wiped out forever." Bertrand Russell, DISSENT, 1963
You antiwestern magpies never change your tune. Its boring. Equivalence between US cluster munitions and Soviet butterfly antipersonnel cluster mines, or between Iraq and USA, are the nonthoughts of the "incognoscenti". I bet you don't even have a passport. Better get one before Ashcroft sends you to the gulag, where you will chop old growth redwoods with gas powered chain saws from dawn until dusk, then be forced to eat red meat suppers while Anne Coulter books on tape are blared through the PA system. Then Bible study , then bedtime.

Ha! As you post, John Poindexter is tracking you down like a dog. Do you suppose such a virulent anti social dissident such as yourself would be allowed to escape? A person of your profound importance to the revolution must be used as an example at a show trial on Fox News.
I wish to God that GW Bush would put on a five star Air Force uniform, wear two six guns in a really fancy gunbelt, and go on TV to tell Kerry "Don't waste Mrs. Ketchup's money on that primary, we got us a regime here. So there won't be no elections for a while."
Let me dream if I want to.

Ha. I have been away for awhile, on a secret mission in Baghdad, and I see that nothing has changed on the Pgh Indy message board. Same old whiny do-nothing banter. And, what is this!?? NOw, there is talk of slander of an un-proven sexual predator and another string about cruelty to animals.
What a load.
I see that the "Shut down Pittsburgh" day really worked. And that the arrests of 122 of the slowest idiots to leave the protest is not such a big issue anymore. Their stupidity and irrelavance was quickly forgotten.
Viva Anarchista my ass. You have not made one whit of difference. What piss-poor revolutionaries.
You are just a bunch a rag-tag hippies.....losers.....

It's not John Poindexter I'm worried about, it's John Oates and John Schneider. I watched a VH1 "Where Are They Now?", that they only showed once, and it to be the night I happened to drink 5 oz of hydrocodone-laced cough syrup, to deal with the effect of the biological agents that were tested on me and the other 121 protesters, while at ACJ. Anyway, many "washed-up" celebrities who "disappear from the face of the earth" actually go on to become high ranking members of the Illuminati, according to Charo, the narrator. Branson is the seat of their power. The Council on Foreign Relations and the Rothschilds are their pawns. Where has Prince been?
I agree with the regime fantasy thing. The reformers and Ghandis would be out of apologies. Bradleys on the Mall? Off come the gloves? We could vote from the rooftops? What does it matter, Kerry is Skull and Bones, too? His thick hair might give him an advantage, though. There is a chance he could lose the crucial bald vote.
My raft is almost ready. I just have to find a ride to Erie.

With what? Do you think you'll be allowed to go out and buy rifles when the clampdown comes? I'm so sure you anarchists already have your scary black assault rifles, designed for nothing but killing people.
Hey please settle a bet with me. Cynical Me bets Deadhead Me that you don't have a passport and have never been much of anywhere. Deadhead Me says I should mellow out and that you are probably young and that I should give you some props for style anyhow.
So do I treat my self to a bowl or a beer?

With what?
Pre-ban MISR-90, I know it's a dirty commie, Arab weapon, and therefore worthy of your scorn and derision, my chosen friend. The steel parts and the butt extension are black, but I never got into all that fibreglass bolt-on shit. Beats the hell out of fussy, bitchy, dainty, .223 shit, like I used during my four year bid for king and country, and paid training.
I renewed my passport in December 2001, while I was still in the Carolinas.
I've been to the Irish free-state, as well as the occupied 6 counties. London, Paris, Spain, Morrocco, Egypt, never got to Basque country, and never tried the overland route from Morrocco to Egypt via Algeria and Lybia (my traveling companion was in his early 60's and probably wouldn't have survived). I went to a wedding in Goa last summer, too.Talk about old wrinkly hippies. Some of us weren't wasting our youth in college or buying Fimo mushroom pendants and veggie burritos in the parking lot at RFK.
Is 30 young? Cynical+Deadhead=Trust fund. Share the wealth.
Go with the bowl. Alcohol production, according to some anthropologists, led to the domestication of humans, through agriculture, and eventually animal husbandry.

I scorn no rifle, only poor marksmanship. So you really could vote from the rooftops. I'm no trustafarian. Certainly not a hippie. I'm just yunzer boozhie scum. Hey how about that tank shooting the Al Jezeera "reporters"? Someone said they were taking sniper fire from that room. Maybe they meant it in an obtuse sorta way? Thats quite a shot, from the Hollywood sound stage all the way to the banks of the Tigris. I envy your travels. Mine have been mostly business, not as adventurous as yours.

I seldom agree with you, but your opinions are witty and well thought out.
As far as taking the high road at election time, I'm pretty friggin' nearsighted, and tend to lose things, which is why I'm in between spectacles at the moment. Also window breaking radicals and FBI infiltrated militias are no match for the might of the US armed forces, those pimply Limp Bizkit & Toby Keith fans, with their high-tech gadgets, don't fuck around. Despite their bad tastre in music and role as retail security guards, for kinder, gentler Saddams, I am still a participant in a local union's "Adopt-a-Marine" program, where you donate toothpaste, foot powder, and phone cards, since the bosses have cruise missles which retail at $750,000 a pop to blow up a maternity hospital, but force their troops into debt with a third party (Bank of America) credit card, which you must take. You pay for travel expenses and personal items, and are in turn reimbursed at the Pentagon's leisure. Bank of America directly withdraws your directly deposited cash, leaving the troops in the red.
It's easy to be adventurous when you could barely affor the fare. I'm thankful the places with dysentery have plentiful opium or over the counter paregoric. Nice thing about dead-end jobs (and dead-end romances) you never feel bad about picking up and going and playing noble savage for a few weeks. I'm glad I did it while a yank still could. That's why I want that Canadian passport, it'll keep you out of windowless cells and shallow graves.
I gave up on the news yesterday when ABC had already debunked the WMD factory as a pesticide plant at 3:00 PM, and the other big 4 were all still reporting it as a smoking gun. Reuters also reported that the Corp were told to toss their C/B suits, as they were unecessary. Despite my obvious aversion to the types of social relationships that allow for nations and wars, I can't believe they haven't found any WMD. Unless the coalition (sounds better than US and British) don't hold as much real estate as they allege.
Some Irish comrades got within 100 yards of Bush and his Poodle yesterday, something no american demonstrator could dream of...

Dick Cheney sent me a nice fundraising letter in November with a white (of course, management) hardhat that said REBUILD IRAQ 2003. For a donation, I could participate. Liquidity being at an all time low, I sold off some AIDS patient viaticals ( who knew about treatment in 90?) at a substantial discount and sent the dough.
Well, last Wednesday, I got my contract for the Brookstone franchise in the new Basra Mall of the Martyrs! Opening spring 2004! Talk about a free trade zone!

I can't get the investors for my Bob Evans franchise until the new line of beef-based "Salaam Sausage TM"
has been correctly genetically modified and tweaked with the right blend of libido diminishing, cancer causing chemicals. But seriously, maybe there'll maybe some good hashish in the US again, like after the first of the gulf wars. I figured Afghanistan would do it, but it just changed the heroin (darker, vinegary smell). The Dutch peackeepers are probably sucking up all the good hash.
It's incredible that 8,000 US troops can manage the largest opium crop in Afghan history, which sucks if you're Columbian, who only have 400 Green Beret "advisers" to supply 70% of the East Coast smack.
