TV Turnoff Week 2003 (April 21-27)

We're at it again with TV Turnoff. After hitting the corporate wall at MTV, we're going after CNN Headline News with our 15-second "TV-Head" uncommercial.

MTV saw our simple, quarter-minute clip and gave us a flat out "No." How's that for free speech from a station with attitude? It's time to take action and jam MTV's corporate daylights.

Meanwhile, CNN has agreed to take our cash.

Thanks to you, we've already raised enough to buy one 15-second spot on CNN Headline News, 6:06 pm, Sunday, April 20.

What Else Are You Doing?
Even bigwigs from the big screen like Tom Cruise, Madonna and Steven Spielberg, have curbed the crud coming at their kids from the myth machine.

Notch it up a level and organize your own actions: plaster posters, make theater, or go bowling. Stroll through this site for MP3s, links and other experiments. Got better ideas? Let us know.

Discussion Forum
People from around the world are joining the new TV Turnoff Week discussion forum. It's a place to swap tales of TV freedom and invasion.

How's that for free speech from a station with attitude?

While your point about them supposedly being a station "bucking the norm" is valid (albiet a tad childish, did you really expect them to say "sure, run an ad asking our customers to go away!") the comment about free speech both here and all over the adbuster's site is totally ridiculous and shows a deep misunderstanding about what free speech is. It is the freedom to say what you want, not the freedom to say it anyway you want or the freedom to be heard.

Overall, I rate this story (-1, juvenile)
