Flyering in memory of the victims of the reagan administration

Wednesday I recieved an email that they would be cancelling all classes at WVU from 11:15-2:00 Friday so that students could go to the Mountainlair, (a university-run student hangout), and watch Reagans memorial service. That was the last straw, I just couldn't let the media hoopla and whitewashing slip by without opening my mouth, so I whipped up a quick flyer in memory of the latin american victims of Reagan.

Friday was rainy and the two people who had said they would flyer with me didn't show, but I decided to go ahead and start anyways. I was a little worried about the reaction I might get, but my flyers were going quick, as they were also doing new student orientation that day and all kinds of freshmen and their families were there.Much to my surprise, the only reactions I got were positive. One professor thanked me for doing what I was doing, saying that he was embarrassed about what was happening in the media these days. One student commented, "That's fucked up what Reagan did to them people, dog, he shoulda died before he got to be president," and a woman even came out with a candy bar for me, telling me how much she appreciated me doing this.

My faith in humanity restored, I went and made more copies, handing out a total of about 200.

The poem is from a collection of poems by Nicuaraguans, and the photo is of a mass grave in Nicaragua.
