Arrests supporter and participant of recall effort
The Nation's Capital of the United States, that part
of the country where taxpayers throughout America
help pay to maintain municiple government, right now D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams is
disrespecting taxpayer funds.
Chris Otten, Operations Manager for Community Empowerment Operations 4 U, which is based
in Washington, D.C. and a well known civil rights
activist, will stand trial in D.C. Superior Court in August this year. Mr. Otten was charged
with attempted assault on a D.C. Police Officer,
including disorderly conduct. The arrest
occurred in March earlier this year outside a
D.C. nightclub for a bus fundraising trip to
New York City's anti-war rally. But his being
placed into custody had nothing to do with the
anti-war movement. It all boils down to this:
Mr. Otten's arrest comes in the wake of a recall campaign mounted against D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams.
An eyewitness account has disclosed that at
Mr. Otten's arraignment in D.C. Superior
Court, on May 27, 2004, the Judge questioned the prosecutor as to why Chris Otten was being held on these charges. The U.S. Attorney could not answer.
Prosecution of Chris Otten on bogus charges is attributed to illegal tampering by D.C. Mayor
Anthony Williams due to Mr. Otten's support of the
D.C. Mayoral recall campaign with a website and other factors. Those other factors are as follows. On February
18th, 2000, the same tampering occured by D.C. Mayor Williams against a recall campaign initiated by
Elijah Gatewood of "Zero Tolerance, Recall The Mayor"! Though Mr. Gatewood was not arrested or prosecuted
for any offense, the circumstances are similar.
After filing a notice of intent to recall before the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics, two days
later Mr. Gatewood was informed by the D.C. Department of Human Resources that he failed to file financial
earnings as a participant in a government program.
Such accusations proved false. Read on.
While Mr. Gatewood was afforded a hearing on these matters, he chose instead to file a civil case in U.S.
Court of Federal Claims. This case was presented in April 2001, and dismissed in July 2003.
