Gas War
by Larry Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 at 3:30 PM

Gas Wars escalate into Republican politics.

Gas War...

Boycott Gulf Oil! This Forest Hills gas station in the battle ground state of Pennsylvania gives new meaning to the concept of gas wars. It used to be about gas prices, now it is about supporting Bush/Cheney when you buy gas and oil. Gulf Oil Co. wants you to vote Republican, support the war in Iraq, support Gulf Oil Co. profits!

Buy Citgo
by John Lacny Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004 at 3:26 PM

Citgo is owned by the PDVSA, the Venezuelan state oil company. After the bosses' strike last year, Chavez replaced its managers and is using the proceeds of Venezuelan oil to benefit the people. So when I get gas, I buy Citgo whenever possible.

Gulf Oil wants you to support Gulf Oil profits? What a concept.

BTW, you don't know whether that station is independently owned do you?

Bush/Cheney/ Oil Companies
by Larry Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 at 6:14 PM

"There's no denying that this is an oil administration," says Peter Eisner, managing director of the nonprofit, nonpartisan watchdog group, the Center for Public Integrity, that conducted a study of Bush's campaign finances. "You can't talk about the career of any George Bush -- father or son -- without talking about oil."
Oil and gas companies overwhelmingly favored Republicans over Democrats in their campaign giving, the study found. Just over 73 percent of the industry's campaign contributions have gone to Republican candidates and organizations.
When it came to tapping the oil industry for campaign dollars, no one has come close to former Texas oilman George W. Bush. The president has received $1.7 million in campaign cash from the oil and gas industry.

No suprise then that the Forest Hills Gulf station has Bush/Cheney 04 sign painted on its car wash. It is independently owned, so what? It is an independently owned Gulf gas station for Bush/Cheney 04. See for yourself, take a drive, buy some gas, wash your car buddy...

I'm organizing a boycott of this Gulf Oil gas station and demonstration to raise awareness in the community of the link between the war in Iraq, high gas prices, oil company profits and the Bush/Cheney presidential campaign.
