Market Square Now - AMERICAS CAR
by D'arby Salt Wednesday, Sep. 01, 2004 at 9:36 AM

AMERICA'S CAR

Downtown in Market Square today, there is a giant pro-war banner. On the banner is a car, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. It's red, white and blue. The words "AMERICAS CAR" appear in large letters beside the car. The words "SUPPORTING AMERICAS EMPLOYERS" appear above the car. There are people standing at the banner handing out markers to sign the banner in support of the troops. They say they'll be sending it to them in Iraq. There are some military men in uniform wandering around too, encouraging people to enlist. Also, an actual real version of "AMERICAS CAR" all painted up in red, white, and blue is sitting right there in the middle of Market Square for you to oogle.

The thing is, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo is made in Canada.

Thats right, not the U.S.A., but Canada. It's hardly "AMERICAS CAR". This poster says a lot about "AMERICAS EMLPOYERS" and their priorities, which are, to close down America's factories and leave America's workers without jobs so that they can go make more money somewhere else. If this is their idea of a patriotic, all-American, Labor Day week celebration, leave me out, please.

I asked to sign the banner, and I wrote "MADE IN CANADA" on the car.

That's hilarious. I don't even understand what a freaking car has to do with anything anyway. The dumbing down of america continues...
