Don't Just Vote- Take Action: Action in Shadyside
by anon Monday, Nov. 01, 2004 at 10:17 PM

Don't Just Vote: Take Action! Shadyside visited by anarchists.

On Tuesday, November 2nd, unknown activist(s) cast a ballot against Starbucks. Starbucks farming techniques are unsustainable and damaging to the enviornment, Starbucks actively discourages unions and workers rights, and Starbucks' strategy is to undercut and close down local competition, destroying local character and paving the way for more bland multinationalism.

The vote was cast at the Starbucks on the corner of Walnut and Copley.

the vote...

here it is, the shadyside vote, in all of its anarchist glory.

the woman on the left is using her cell phone to call up her friends to let them know about the benefits of locally owned stores. on the table is a copy of "No Logo" by Naomi Klein, which she stole from a nearby Barnes & Noble -- shortly after this photograph was taken, the unknown woman replaced the fancy brand name on her bag with a circle-A.

the guy in the middle may look like he is holding a pastry, but is actually wielding a union card. he's ready to go on strike in solidarity with the workers of the world, striking a fatal blow to the capitalist system.

and on the far right, a man dressed in green to symbolize his concern for the environment listens to "intense" music and participates in "thought activism." his facial expression says it all.

don't just vote, kids.

Wow, you da man!!! You broke a window!!! Step aside Mideast terrorists, we got ourselves a real player!!! You need to find another f*cking hobby!!! Do you really think Starbucks "undercuts" the competition? Yeah, instead of paying $4.50 for a latte, I only paid $4.35!!! What a steal!!! You are a (once again I am forced to use my favorite descriptor) MORON!!! Does your job (that of being an uneducated idiot) have a pension plan and benefits? Hmmm...well you had better get used to not having those perks because you will never have a real job, or spouse, or anything that your parents don't give you. By the way, when your parents speak of you to others, they refer to you as "being a little slow" and "special" and "going through a phase" and "off your meds" and "mildly retarded." Look punk, breaking a window just makes you a vandal not a hero. Your punk ass needs beat into the pavement like Kerry's was on Tuesday. GROW UP, GET A JOB, MOVE OUT OF YOUR PARENTS HOUSE, GET A LIFE.
