Those guys were pigs. They were with that ZZ Top looking character in the post below, kind of acting as his henchmen/muscle as he ran his mouth about kicking some ass.

ou would have, but you hid my post for no reason
by UCDU Tuesday, Mar. 29, 2005 at 1:23 PM

My posting, which accurately stated a perception similar to that which is expressed here as to otehr persons alogn wiht accusations, was hidden for no damn good reason.

" I haven't heard anything impying the radical cheerleaders were acting in such a way..."

They were, in fact, wearing silly uniforms and wer, in fact, looking threatening behind those masks, nad were, in fact, behaving suspiciously at times.

Why does the IMC editorial collective play favorites. I thought this was for open discussion. My posting is very relevant to the discussion.

Please replace it promptly.

UCDU, what are you refering to exactly? Also, I don't recall seeing any of the radical cheerleaders wearing masks. Can you please clarify what you are talking about?

These women were seen wearing masks and silly uniforms, and were seen talking to, and possibly being directed by, an organization which promotes the oppresion of millions. They were acting very provocatively and threatening towards anyone who might disagree with them or not look like them.

ah, cheerleaders are scary!
by ... Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005 at 6:34 AM

UCDU,

It's not relevant to compare the actions of the cheerleaders to a group of people (undercover police) who threatened to kick peoples asses. If you have any evidence of violent threats made by the cheerleaders feel free to throw those out otherwise don't say that they acted in a similarly threatening manner. I would assume you could agree that the type of "threat" you feel the cheerleaders were making was not the same as the threat the undercovers were making.

Since you seem to feel so threatened by the cheerleaders I'd recommend you talk to some of them. They might disagree with you, but I think you'll find they aren't trying to get you.

Also, were you even at this event?

Weird Guys
by Chris Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005 at 10:44 AM

How can you call those two guys weird? Have you taken a look in the mirror. They look like average guys watching the protest/parade. What do you expect any spectators to look like? They sure dont look like police or undercover police. You need to reread they guys comment about what to look for w/the police....I think you are way out of line, they are probably just some guys walking thru the campus and saw the protest and wanted to check it out. Dont be so paranoid. What makes you think it the protest was such a top priority for the police to even come and try to get in amongst the protesters and do a surveillence? I am sure they had more important things to do than try to infiltrate the anti war movement. Keep with our cause and get off the whole paranoid out to get us scenario....it is getting old.

Chris, perhaps you should re-read the thread that was posted about these guys in question.

Saying people look weird is one thing, saying hey- these guys said they were cops, threatened to kick peoples asses, were running in groups of three, had radios sticking out of pockets, acted very provocatively and agressively, and went over to talk to stand by the police, etc, etc. That is the situation here. Draw your own conclusions. People pointing these people out is a safety issue, regardless of whether they are police or not. This has nothing to do with paranoia.

Safety issue
by Chris Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005 at 11:00 AM

How is it a safety issue pointing out two average looking guys who bystanders? You can talk about being an authority on cops and all that, have you ever looked around and noticed a lot of people carry two way radios or even have those nextel phones and talk all the time. They are everywhere on the street and in the malls. You are just pushing it to provoke people and are getting away from what the protests are supposed to be about.

Chris,

How much simpler can people make this. Look, a couple of guys hung around at Pitt acting all hard, they SAID they were cops and threatened to kick people asses. They went over to the police, stood by them, and took orders from them. People are merely pointing them out because that's the type of info I for instance might want to have at a future protest so as to not stand near individuals with such short fuses. As far as the ridiculous idea of this detracting from the issues, there are a bunch of threads on indypgh, this one has this particular subject. If you don't want to discuss this then why not post your thoughts on peace on another thread or start your own post to talk about where movements should go from here.

Did these guys in any of your pictures posted actually come up to YOU and say they were police or threaten you at all? Or is this some misunderstanding that has been completely blown out of proportion? What did they do that even started all of this to make you think they were police?

those guys ARE cops
by cop spotter 2000 Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005 at 11:23 AM

Listen, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck....I can spot the copness in their body language and appearance.
1) Sane men don't wear moustaches anymore.
2) Check out those $8 haircuts, very militaristic.
3) They have the hardass stance all cops got. "You got a problem, kid?"

Come on, they are cops. Bystanders would have a genuine look of interest on their faces, not a look of, "i'm going to fucking kill you hippies then go home and beat my dog and slap my wife around."

Jesus Christ.

How many times does it need to be said that yes, they came up to us and threatened us with future arrests and beatings? The dude with the King Tut beard even threated to come to my house and kick my ass. Get it now? These are the pigs that work for a police force that regularly shoots people in the back and thus was the only police department in the nation to be under federal review due to police brutality.

Undercovers need outed. If you don't have a problem with them, go shake their hands and kiss their feet next time. Myself, I'll keep my eye on them for my own safety.

When they start treatening to come to you house and kick your ass, maybe you'll change your tune. Me? I'm arming myself. When someone with the ability and authority to find out who I am and where I live threatens to hunt me down and beat me, I have no other option. Come on over Mr Pig and meet my shotgun. You start it and I'll end it. The ball is in your court now.

Chris- You are the only reason this seems blown out of proportion. The only reason it's even getting talked about so much is that one (possibly more) people on here are just continiously posting things. What happened has already been explained. It was a minor incident, but threats of violence usually cause people to let others know for safety reasons. The men said they were police and people have already said the additional reasons they seem to believe this. If you need more proof or whatever then I guess you're not going to be convinved and can believe whatever you want. I did overhear some of the conversation between the weird men and protesters, and I've already said my piece. Either way, maybe we can just move on having already expressed ourselves.

for all you know
by Chris Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005 at 11:38 AM

For all you know they could be some student, frat boys or innocent spectators, who just happened to go over by the police after the incident. What started the whole thing anyways? Who provoked them to want to kick some ass? Or did that just come out of nowhere? You dont have to make it any simpler for me....i am sure i can top your iq and i will even spot you some points.....I just think there is more to this story than your rant about pigs.....

Chris,

That's great you believe you have a higher IQ. Super. Moving on, the reason people would might your intelligence is you simply ignore what people say and then continiously ask questions people have already answered. Whether this is a result of the fact you are simply unable to internalize information or that you choose not to out of a desire to be disruptive I have no idea.

Hmm, why do people think they're cops? Could it be because they said they were cops.

If you think the men in those pictures are students then more power to you. Next time you see them you can talk about what classes they're taking.

Childish...
by USAn Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005 at 11:55 AM

Sure, they may be cops, or they may be Repblican or NRA vigilanties of some sort.

WHO CARES?

People joined the march for comraderie and to convey their outrage at US imperialist crimes, not to play some childish puerile, anarcho-punk hide and seek game with the police. The anti-imperialst/antiwar movement is, or needs to be, totally transparent. If the FBI comes knocking on my door, I will gladly show them my bookshelf full of Chomsky, I will offer to loan them a copy of Blum's "Killling Hope" and show them my coffee table full of the Monthly Review, Zmag, Political Affairs; my Palestinan flag, my Joe Hill and Emilio Zapata poster, etc...

A prediction: 20 years from now the person who published this article will be one of the last capitalist corporate suits working to grab the last final drops of gasoline for his SUV.

Chris,

It started with the "weird guys" having a problem with people. Acting in an intimidating manner, people called them out on this, and the whole went from there. And I had to waste so much time and space answering your other stupid assertions that had already been gone over, such as why do people think they're cops, etc. If you honestly wanted more info you went about it in a ridiculous manner and I'd recommend you take a look at how you interact with other people.

USan,

Your question of who cares has already been answered. Look, some people care because it's a safety issue. If you don't then fine. Either way, get over it. You are the one with the fixation on this issue. Other people are only posting to answer these ridiculous questions.

THEY ARE COPS !!!!
by 234502321-04 Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005 at 12:11 PM

They are cops, man. I know. I talked to them. I was talking to them and they got all up on me and shit. They were saying crap like" get the f*$# out a my way lice bag" and "get back to marching in the gutter before I kick your ass". I told them that they looked like pigs and they can't say shit like that and then I flipped the one big dude the bird. He told me he was a cop and he could kick my ass anytime he wanted. The other guy grabbed my shirt and told me I would make a nice bitch for someone downtown. I told him that this was police harassment and a violation of my rigths to free speech. Then he told me that they had my picture from the surveillnace cameras and he would find out where I lived and come over and cap my ass. I told him to go f himself and that he isn't gonna shoot me in the back like his pig buddies did to that kid. He told me that I was right and he was gonna shoot me in the head. He said he would shoot me in the balls if he thought I had any. He then told me that all of the protesters were hippy trash and that he would have no problem beating each and everyone on of them and then turning his dog loose to rape the women and piss on the men. However, at the end of it all he told me to have a nice day and to be safe.

Trust me man, this is the way pigs talk. They are out to get us. They are all hopped up on steroids and power. F them ! But just to be safe, I am not going out alone. I don't want to take any chance that his dog is looking for me.

I saw the whole thing. The anarchist are the ones who told the big ugly fucker they would come to his house and visit him. He said something about bring it on and had a cop come over when the anarchist punk said he was being harassed. Yeah, they big guy talked to the cops on the street when they asked if they could shake his hand for putting the "Pussies" in their place. I think that dude is somebody even the cops didn't want to fuck with.

Funny that all the cops had were idle threats, huh? No ass kicking.

Someone who really wanted to kick some ass would kick it. Someone who wanted to look all big and mighty in front of their cop friends would try to get some protestor to start something so they could whip out their handcuffs and arrest them. Guess what? Some people are smarter than that.

...Something tells me that I don't have to explain that shotguns can be bought at Walmart, and that someone posting an anonymous message about how some other person who may or may not have been a cop may have threatened them at some point in time and are thus arming themselves with commonly and legally available arms is not illegal.

I have to agree however, that cops don't antagonize, threaten, then pose for picts. I think you guys are overreacting just a tad (but maybe not about the dog, he worries me).
