Ten POG members and supporters returned once more to the Forbes Ave. rectruiting station. The Oakland station appears to be central recruitment office for the region.

One cop seemed to perform for the camera and said we should post pictures and video of him to "our" website.

just finish the debate on letting at least people involved with POG know about these, and here we are again, with no warning to even those who are on ur mailing list, etc to take part. I give up.

Its been explained over and over again. Please don't turn this into another argument about POG.

its been explained and i get the point. but the same lack of communication to supporters and people on ur mailing list, etc was done again. Why you want to leave out people who actively want to help and get involved makes absolutely no sense. But whatever all 10 of you have fun. Without even including supporters, your campaign has no hope

Yes, the arguement has been made. But has it been taken into consideration? I think thats all the rest of us want is to be informed. maybe a new channel of communications needs to be formed, but without the power of masses we are nothing! Simply because an arguement has happened does not mean it is resolved. The points made by said arguement must be nonemotionally considered so that the greater movement can benefit.
We must stick together sisters and brothers! Without eachother we are nothing!
come on now

Its hard for one to recognize exactly what the problem is people have with this action. Instead of criticism wouldnt it be much more effective to just organize you're own protest of a recruitment center and "publicize" it in the manner that suits you.
One may have problems with the clandestinity of the action, I believe those with this criticism take it that these actions are somehow an attempt to create a elite vanguard in the counter recruitment movement. I beg of you to take into account why clandestinity may be necessary in this situation. (One can easily infer the positive elements of clandestinity with a quick glance at the history of social movements) Organizing a rally against counter-recruitment (with or without publicity) can in no way be looked at as means for controlling an entire movement. It is simply a rally!
Even if you somehow believe that these actions are exclusive, nevertheless, they are actions. Being in this present situation any action that may have some positive benefits should be taken. This may not be the way you feel an ideal counter-recruitment action should go-down, so again i ask of you, to lead by example! If there is a better tactic for implementing the change we are all striving for then show everyone the way. Those who are sincere will gladly follow.
It has come to my attention that this criticism of pog's actions have been brought up numerous times. Thus, critics have now placed the ball on their side of the court, with each criticism, i hope to see an equal amount of actions taken against the real opposition, that being the military industrial complex.

the way these occur is changing. not because of criticism, which although I understand the frustration was never really legitimate because the articulated goals of the actions necessitated the means of communication being criticized, but because the Pittsburgh police have adjusted. no biggie and nothing that wasn't expected, but the fact they are no longer caught off guard means people need to try something else. likely these will be publicly announced events so I really hope to see the person continuously complaining be in attendance.
the idea that all people are some how entitled to information potentially negating the effectiveness of an action is ridiculous. this organizing wasn't elitist and it wasn't vanguardist. pog may be so in other ways but to use these actions to try and make the critique only undermines your argument and prevents dialogue. No matter how much a group is attacked it's not, or at least should never, undermine the effectiveness of it's campaigns to please the latest critics. You wonder why past plans weren't communicated to a list of 300 people? is that a rhetorical question?
these were small actions, always with less than 3 dozen activists, that could be duplicated quite easily anytime by anyone else. no special knowledge or information was needed to carry out these actions. Even the flyers used are available online. These actions made a small impact on those exposed to them, and made a slightly larger and unexpected media splash. They aren't going to single-handedly stop the war or take down military recruiting and it's a sad commentary on the current movement that we all have the time to sit on indypgh arguing back and forth about whether these should have been public. It seems like if this was one of 5 or 10 actions occurring in a week no one would care. I hope that its true and these attacks stem from a frustration of wanting to do more and not feeling able to.

having your own events isn't a bad thing, but i would rather stay united and hold united actions. I have been to every POG-led protest that i actually hear about ahead of time, not to mention numerous other events. I always attend any such events, but again, i cannot when i have no clue its happening. But POG has been a very good organization to work with, and i have no interest in "breaking off" to have my own little movement. I have a damn good understanding of how the cops and feds are and the need for some level of secrecy is understandable. But keeping fellow activists out i think goes to far in the area of secrecy. Again, i want to stay unified because, as it has been stated, we know the real enemy and we need to stick together to have any hope of success. I also support the actions themselves, and all people such as myself ask is that those of us on your mailing lists, etc be made aware when such events take place. The whole point of this has never been to cause a split or needless arguing, but simply to have constructive dialogue on what i felt were problems that had to be addressed. This so far has been rather civil and helpful and that is all i ask. Lets at least attempt to find a way to let people on your side with this issue know in whatever way when such actions are going to happen.
