Rowhouse Fire in Morningside

7 houses were destroyed in the fire at 4:00am on November 24.

The fire started from a space heater and spread through the houses very quickly. Because the building was situated on a cliff, the firefighters couldn't access the back side and despite incredible effort, they could not get it under control until about 8:00am. All of the residents escaped safely, but the houses are gutted and collapsing. They need to find housing as quickly as possible and several were renting or do not have insurance. We're reaching out to as many people as possible to ask for help. Financial donations are badly needed. Please help if you can! Also, if anyone knows of any organizations or grants we could appeal to, please let us know. The Red Cross has been extremely helpful, but we need to find long-term help for people as well. We're searching, but any information would be helpful.

Deep thanks.
