ALTERNATIVE HOUSING?

I'm looking for info on alternative housing in and around Pittsburgh - i.e. co-ops, collectives, intentional communities, etc. for a zine on the subject.

Hi, i'm looking to get in touch with folks in the Pittsburgh area for a project I'm working on trying to document current and historical alternative housing in the area. If you are part of, have been involved in, or have knowledge of any co-ops, collectives, intentional communities, squats, etc...basically anything outside the traditional landlord/tenant or single-family home situation i am interested. The purpose is to put together a written document of these alternatives and to discuss why to build housing alternatives, how to do it, and how it has affected the lives of those involved. I'm looking to do meet with folks for the next month or so and then start putting the document together. Please get in touch!

I heard that the Geoff Frost abode is an alternative, otherworldly experience all unto itself!

I know that CMU has had a co-op for a few years now, some of the animal rights people live there.

Walter Reuther, of course is not my style. James Matles is more like it. However, few pictures of any kind are on display. Basically, the Lacny abode is as far from "alternative" as you can imagine, as befits a dreary and humorless existence -- albeit one occasionally illuminated with flashes of haute couture (of a musical or literary and not a visual variety), though after all nothing's too good for the working class.
